Lens-Artists Challenge #374: On the Move!

This week it's John's turn to host the Challenge, and his theme is 'On The Move!'

Whether you’re chasing adventure or simply getting from point A to B, this week’s theme is all about movement.' Trains are my favourite mode of transport, and whenever I can I'll hang around the station in Oiã or Aveiro and photograph the trains as they stop of just pass through. But this post is not about trains.

Every year the Oiãcelera Motoclub, the local motorcycle club, host a weekend event. Motorcyclists from all over Portugal come to Oiã where they are treated to music, dancing and a heavy metal show. They also hold a parade (a 'passeio'), where they'll ride around the district of Oiã before breaking for lunch. Fortunately, the route they take passes right by our house, and although I often miss the parade, this year I was ready.

I went outside with one of my favourite cameras, the Panasonic Lumix GF1 micro four-thirds mirrorless camera and it's 20mm f1.7 lens, set the camera to shutter speed mode with a speed of roughly 1/50s, and burst mode. As each motorcyclist passed, I followed them with the camera and hoped to get some motion blur. It actually worked quite well.
