In Oliveira Do Bairro With The Circuit Bent G6 Thumb Camera

The Shitty Camera Challenge: In Oliveira Do Bairro With The Circuit Bent G6 Thumb Camera

It's been a while since I've been out with the G6 Thumb Camera,  but the Shitty Camera Challenge is upon us, and this little circuit bent camera is an ideal partner. Besides, most of my cameras are still in boxes, and we still haven't been able to get out with the Zeh Goldi and the Ilford Pixie, which I've been promising myself for ages. Still, the better half had a hair appointment in Oliveira do Bairro so it was the perfect opportunity to explore the town with the circuit bent G6 Thumb Camera.

I'm really pleased with  how this glitch came out. It wasn't ideal, the colours  are a bit 'washed out' compared to the later circuit bent action scamera, but it was my first successful attempt and I couldn't have been happier. I've got a couple of 'generic' cameras that I'm hoping to circuit bend in the near future, but in the meantime the G6 Thumb Camera is behaving admirably.

It wasn't exactly a beautiful day for photography, the days of extreme heat that have been plaguing most of Europe have passed, at least for a little while, and the day was a little dull and overcast. However, these conditions are ideal for the circuit bent G6 Thumb Camera. I took the G6 to the beach with me a couple of weeks ago on a really sunny day, and the results were really washed out, and quite disappointing.

In Oliveira, the conditions were much better — meaning dull, and the cloudy sky really brought out the best from the circuit bent sensor. Just for a change, as well as the regular landscape images, I tried my hand at a few portrait images too, and really liked them. I also found some pieces of old graffiti (this was definitely not street art) that made for some lovely vertical images. Apart from the stencilling, which are usually political messages — mainly from the far left and communist parties for some reason — I wouldn't normally bother with such graffiti, but the circuit bent G6 Thumb Camera gave it an entirely new dimension. If you're interested, I’ve posted the whole series in an album on my Joomeo (https://public.joomeo.com/albums/6a5268e83d1e4) if you want to see the rest of the images.
