#CellpicSunday: Some digital aerochromes in Águas Boas, 21 January 2024

Another occasional entry for Cellpic Sunday. For the first time in a while the sun came out and we had a decent blue sky, so I headed out to Águas Boas armed with my Samsung A70 smartphone and a collection of filters.

I've known that the Samsung has a good infrared response and posted some examples on Cellpic Sunday before, but this time I thought it would be a bit of fun to see if I could make some decent digital aerochromes. 

So I set the smartphone camera to 'shadow' mode (monochrome) and took one image with a red filter, one with a blue filter, and one with a blue filter. I also took an image with the Hoya 720nm infrared filter. When I got back home I processed the images with GuIMP photo editor to create a digital aerochrome, where three black and white images are combined to make a colour image. Normally I would use the infrared, red and green filtered images for the red, green and blue layers, but the smartphone camera did not work very well with the red filter, so instead I used the infrared, green and blue images. In fhat sense the aerochrome was more like a traditional trichrome, but they still came out quite well.
