Cellpic Sunday, the cycle races are back: 11 June 2023

Another infrequent entry to Cellpic Sunday. I was half way through making the lunch and I heard a police siren outside, 'woop, woop!' It wasn't the normal sound so I popped to the window to see what was going on.

Outside I could see that the roads around the rotunda (roundabout) had been cordoned off and officials in tabards were milling around. Something was going on for the first time in quite a while. Before rhe Pandemic we used to have a lot of events passing through, but these had gradually stopped.

I rushing inside to grab my phone. Imagine, all those digital cameras around the house and all that was to hand was my smartphone. That's going to have to change. Anyway, phone in hand I waited for thecyclists to pass.

A small group went by, followed by the team support cars. Was that it, I wondered? But the officials were still there and more police motorcycles passed by, and I knew there were more racers to come.

Sure enough, a long thread of cyclists sped by; a line almost without end. Eventually the cyclists stopped coming and the team cars had gone. I knew the race was over because the last vehicle to pass by was the red ambulance of the Portuguese bombers (firefighters). This racewasover, but hopefully there'll be more in the future.

As John says, 'I encourage fellow bloggers to create their own Cellpic Sunday posts. I never have a specific topic for this feature, and the only rules are that the photo must be captured with a cell phone, iPad, or another mobile device… If you have an image from a drone or even a dashcam, that’s acceptable as well. The second rule is to link your challenge response to this post or leave a comment here with a link to your post in the comment. Oh, and, you don’t have to post it on a Sunday.'
